Alongside EDPA’s Future Workforce, the Future Leaders group is impacting the career trajectory of young people across all jobs in this industry, including the trades, as well as alerting industry leaders to the wide talent pool from which they can mine.

The aim of Future Workforce is to grow the talent pool of the events industry by creating interest in the jobs and careers paths afforded, at the student-level. This Group is working to form partnerships with organizations from high schools, trade schools and junior colleges to colleges and universities, alumni associations and veterans’ groups and associations, with the goal of building strong relationships with the faculty and administrators to bring awareness of the events industry. Through Future Workforce, these populations are even provided direct routes to job opportunities from EDPA members across the country.

The mission of Future Leaders is to identify bright, young minds currently working in the industry as leaders in their disciplines and provide them with opportunities to grow their career path and get more involved in shaping the industry. This Group publicly recognizes these individuals though EDPA’s annual awards, and creates for them an exclusive program of networking and educational events as well as provides access to various tools and resources to propel their careers forward, including connecting these future leaders to current senior and executive level professionals who are eager to answer questions and provide advice.

Complementing Values

There is tremendous potential for what can be achieved when members of Future Workforce and Future Leaders join forces. A nominated Future Leader can take their tutelage to the next level and assist Future Workforce by representing the industry at a career fair or calling on their own network to speak to a class in their discipline and share their own experiences entering this industry. And Future Workforce representatives can help identify those young students and soon-to-be workers and professionals who are looking to do more with their careers and get involved in the EDPA.

What’s more, industry professionals do not have to be nominated individuals to get involved. All members of the EDPA are welcome to become a Future Workforce or Future Leader ‘brand ambassador’ to help promote these two important groups. EDPA Chapters are encouraged to review their own membership base for nominated Future Leaders or otherwise individuals interesting in getting involved and becoming an official representative of either Group, and all individuals are welcome to share in their networks the news, updates and events of Future Leaders and Future Workforce.
